Up next in our summer of fright series is The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. The third movie of the series brought to us by 21st Century Horror Master James Wan. The story is based off the real life case files of Demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren. Taking place in Connecticut, Arne Johnson is the first person in known history to use demonic possession as a defense as he is on trial for murder. The movie starts off with an intense scene of an exorcism, the brother of Arne’s girlfriend. At this point the tone of the movie is set as it grabs the viewer and does not let go for the next nearly two hours. Twists and turns follow in this wonderfully written story filled with action, good story telling, and most importantly the scares! Do not see this movie alone as you will need a hand to squeeze throughout! One of my favorite aspects of this movie, and the movie franchise as a whole is the love and bond of Ed and Lorraine. This is the central story that holds everything together. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga have been perfectly cast as the legendary Warrens. This movie is a can’t miss and in my opinion better than the second installment which was great in its own right!
